Installing an EV charger involves more than just mounting a unit on the wall. It needs to run on its own circuit, with the right safety switch protection, and your switchboard needs the capacity to handle it. We assess your setup and install accordingly.

Does Your Switchboard Need an Upgrade?
Older switchboards may not have the capacity or safety switch coverage needed for EV charging. Signs your switchboard may need attention first include:

Can any electrician install an EV charger?
EV charger installation should be carried out by a licensed electrician with experience in EV charging setups, to ensure it's installed safely and correctly sized to your circuit.
Will I need a switchboard upgrade to install an EV charger?
It depends on your existing switchboard's capacity and condition. We assess this as part of the installation and let you know if an upgrade is needed.
How long does EV charger installation take?
Most installations are done in a few hours. Longer if there's significant cable runs involved or access is difficult, e.g double brick, elevated garage, that sort of thing. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when we quote.
Can I just plug my EV into a regular power point?
You can, but it's slow. A standard 10A power point will give you roughly 10–15km of range per hour of charging. A dedicated home charger (7kW) gives you around 40–50km per hour. If you're driving daily, a proper charger is worth it.
